My name is Melanie and I have had Type 1 Diabetes for 17 years and Im now 29. For the first couple of years I had perfect control with a HbA1C of 6.5%.

These days it runs around 13%.

Due to my lack of control I have suffered the horrible complications that diabetes can cause. Eye problems, nerve damage and now I am on the waiting list for a kidney/pancreas transplant. I have 2 beautiful children who need their mum around but I feel as if I'm stuck in a hole and that diabetes rules my life every day.

I hate diabetes and don't want to do it anymore because its just too hard.....
