Not telling anyone...

Not telling anyone...... the biggest mistake of my life!

I am 17 and live in the uk. I found out I was diabetic when I was 11 years old and moved house when I turned 16. I didn't tell any of my friends to start with, kept ignoring it and going about with my normal daily injections and doing everything I needed to make myself stay healthy without anyone finding out.

I met this really great guy and things began to get serious. I didnt tell him about my diabetes. Every time I needed my insulin I would go to the toilet and have my shots. Things started to go wrong when we were both out one day and I felt different to what I normally did. I didnt have anything to eat that lunch time and felt a bit faint. I then passed out which scared the guy that I was with, as he did not know what was going on.

When I came round I had to tell him. I was ill all that day and felt really bad for the next few days and my blood glucose levels were really high at 16.7 the highest it's ever been for me.

So I really do recomend that keeping your diabetes a secret from people is a mistake as things could go really wrong.
