Your Stories

Hi and welcome to your stories!

This page has been created for you to add your personal stories about living with diabetes to the website. We all have many stories to our lives, all happening alongside each other. These stories make up our experiences, our "life stories".

This can be helpful for you and other people. Writing about and reading your own and other people’s experiences can be very powerful.

There are no rules about what you write. You can write about any aspect of yourself, your life and diabetes. This might be a single experience with one particular issue or a whole pile of things. This could be about problems and issues you have faced, or are facing and/or it could also be about positive experiences and changes you have made in including diabetes in your life.

Poetry is also welcomed!

It would be great if we end up with a variety of experiences here for us all to share. As examples, you might like to write about your diagnosis, experiences with food and diabetes, injections and medications, hypos, how diabetes has affected your relationships, pregnancy, what it is like parenting a child who has diabetes, dealing with drugs and alcohol, work and study, the “funny” side of diabetes (I am sure there are some!) depression and/or the whole lot!

Just go with what you would like to write about, remembering that this is a public forum and people from all over the world will be able to read your story. It is therefore best not to add any identifying information about your whereabouts and it is up to you whether you include your personal details, such as your age and name. You can write as much or as little as you like.

Please note that abusive and offensive language and comments about other people by name will not be published and rules of general respect for each other is expected as with other areas of this website.

Click on the “Write Your Story” link below and you will be directed to a page where you can write your story. Once you are happy with what you have written, click “submit” and it will be emailed to Diabetes Counselling Online Admin.

We will then add your story to the website. If for any reason we think the story is not ok to be published, or needs any significant editing, we will contact you first, so please include your email address on the form, so we can follow up with you if needed. Thanks and Happy writing!
